San Jose-based firm BCA Architects has opened a Sacramento outpost, partially to attract new talent in a lower-cost market.

Company president Brian Whitmore, who grew up in Placer County, said being here also gives the firm better access to potential clients in public education.

“It seemed like a good jumping-off point,” said Whitmore, whose company has active projects at the moment from the north coast to Orange County. Locally, he said, the firm is doing school projects in Winters and East Nicolaus and the North Natomas Aquatic Center for the city of Sacramento.
